Artist Profile: Carey Moon

I am a ‘painterly ceramicist’ that is to say, I like to paint on pots. I love to draw and find that the three dimensional surface of bowls, vases and mugs works for me as a vehicle for my designs. I am always honing my craft with throwing pots too.

At present, I am specialising in large porcelain bowls – sometimes with poetry on them. Commissions welcome.

I trained at Leeds Polytechnic (BA Fine Art) and Goldsmiths College where I did art teacher training. In recent years I ran the business that my father set up – Torquil Pottery and the Gallery Upstairs in Henley-in-Arden. I have taught adults and children over the years and recently have been working with adults living with dementia. I like to share my love of art and pottery and do sessions with ESCAPE Arts and other community groups – and sometimes small workshops in my own studio.
